CueCollab Handbook
CueCollab is a rehearsal and show management tool for live performance productions. It runs entirely on your local network — no internet connection or cloud service is required. Every member of your team accesses it through a web browser on their phone, tablet, or laptop.
Who is it for?
Section titled “Who is it for?”CueCollab is built for everyone involved in the creation of a show:
- Stage Managers — track cues, call the show, take live notes, and coordinate the team in real time
- Directors — review recordings with timecoded notes, add feedback during rehearsals, follow the show state
- Designers — review recordings, follow notes by department, see the current scene and cue state
- Show Producers — get an overview of rehearsal progress, review notes and recordings
- Creatives — add notes and feedback during rehearsals, review takes
- Technical Staff — monitor cue state, timecode, and recording devices; coordinate with the stage manager
Modules
Section titled “Modules”A shared live notepad where the whole team can write notes during rehearsal. Every note is automatically stamped with the current timecode and scene name. Notes are organized into department lists (Light, Sound, Stage, etc.), can be flagged, and can be marked as resolved once actioned. There is also a stripped-down Quick Entry view designed for mobile devices.
After a rehearsal take, you can watch back the recorded video directly in the app. The video player shows timecode, scene names, and callsheet cues in sync with the footage — so you can see exactly where in the show a note was written, or when a cue was called. Notes can be added directly from the review view.
The digital equivalent of the stage manager’s printed running order. Shows all cues in order and tracks which one you are currently on. Each open instance has independent state; one can activate Master mode to broadcast its position to read-only Client views. An Unattended mode is fully automatic, driven by timecode.
Control connected recording devices — OBS Studio or Blackmagic HyperDeck recorders — directly from CueCollab. Start and stop recordings without touching the recording workstation.
A full-screen timecode display that can be opened on any screen, tablet, or phone on the network. Useful as a reference clock for crew members who need to see the running timecode.
A full-screen display showing the current scene name and the elapsed time within that scene. The scene name is typically received from the lighting console or show control system. Useful as an on-stage or crew display.
A transparent overlay designed to be captured by OBS as a browser source. It adds timecode, scene name, and cue information directly into the recorded video — so every recording automatically shows where in the show it was taken.
Where the system is configured and show data is managed. Covers timecode inputs, recording devices, remote control protocols, access security, and show file management.
How it connects
Section titled “How it connects”All modules share the same live data. When the stage manager confirms a cue in the callsheet, that position is visible to every client. When a note is written in the notepad, it appears for the whole team instantly. When the lighting console changes the scene, the environment display, recording overlay, and notepad all reflect the new scene name automatically.
The timecode signal — whether it comes from LTC audio, MIDI, Art-Net, or a lighting console — is the backbone that keeps everything synchronized.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”Open your browser and navigate to the CueCollab server address on your network. The home screen lists all available modules. Tap or click any module to open it. Most modules can be opened in multiple browser tabs or on multiple devices simultaneously.
If a specific module is not visible on your home screen, it may have been restricted by your system administrator.
